Have you ever thought about what type of eater you are? FOX19 NOW talked to St. Elizabeth Healthcare nutritionist, Karah Stanley about the different types of eating we should know of and understand.
The first is fun eating, or “eating for pleasure.” This entails any foods that don’t necessarily offer much nutritional value (i.e., cake, wine, potato chips) but provide you with a great deal of enjoyment. This could be one small treat a day or two fun meals a week.
Next, is fuel eating, or “eating to live.” This includes choosing foods that provide your body with the right amount of nutrients for energy and health, such as complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, lean protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals.
The last type of eater is emotional eating, or “eating because you’re sad, happy, stressed, or bored.” Emotional eating can be a sign of a larger mental health issue, like depression or anxiety. In these cases, it’s best to find other ways to cope. Eating disorders are very serious and should be treated by a professional.
