Intuitive Eating – One Day as an Intuitive Eater

intuitive eatingI am writing this from San Antonio, Texas, staying with a friend and I am reminded again about the miracle of being an Intuitive Eater.
A decade ago there was NO WAY I would ever let someone cook for me or given myself the freedom to eat whatever I wanted during the day.

I probably would not even have had the courage to stay at someone else’s house because i would either have been chronically binge eating and too ashamed, on a strict diet and scared that I would fall off, or simply depressed and isolated.

That is what the eating disorder can do to us – it robs us of our spirit, living, exploring life and experiencing all that the world has to offer.

The good news is this – I believe 100% that complete recovery and freedom is possible. Without a doubt. You have to want it, you do have to work for it and you do have to reprogram the old ideas and beliefs about food, weight loss and the possibility of recovery.

It is my goal and mission to help you with each of these things so that you are all on the other side one day, living in a place of true freedom and recovery.

You see I eat exactly what I want, I allow others to took for me, I do not stick to any sort of rigid eating plan and I do not even plan out my meals in advance.
I intuitively know that I will get exactly what I need, that there is no such thing as “good” or “bad” food and this is what true intuitive eating is about and why I have the freedom in my life to live, work, travel the world without being a hostage to the eating disorder.

Hey Nina,
I’m so thankful for your amazing job and help, you have really helped me with all your videos and blog posts THANKS!!
I’m trying to become an intuitive eater lately so I have a question for you – you say it’s all about doing what you want BUT what if I try to listen to my body and it wants sweets, junk and pasta ALL THE TIME? And at the same time it HATES all the healthy food and doeeasn’t want healthy food?!
I’m trying to make myself eat healthy instead of eating what I really WANT, well of course I’m not on a diet and I eat a lot of junk too BUT if I wouldn’t push myself to eat healthy food too…I would be eating sweets and high fat, wheat foods ALL THE TIME because that’s what I want… Any help here?

Hi Nina,

I also agree, these type of videos are very helpful, I would love to see more of them coming, as they really help learn how to APPLY Intuitive Eating in our daily lives. And yes, as Cyndi mentions, it would be great if you could go on the specifics of what you are thinking before you eat and how you decide what you want to eat.

Hi Nina,

Thanks for this video. It’s wonderful that you have freedom to enjoy time with your friend and eat whatever you like. I would love to see more of this type of video, maybe going into the specifics of what you are thinking before you eat/how you decide what you want to eat. That is where I sometimes run into trouble. Also, if you have any tips for planning ahead with food, such as bringing a snack, would be appreciated.

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for the great questions – my latest video describes in a very simple way the thoughts behind the choices that I make.
To break it down – it is very simple.
What do I WANT.
That’s it. Not what a diet magazine, a personal trainer, a nutritionist, therapist or anyone else said.
it comes down to ME.
Make friends with CINDY and ask her what SHE WANTS.
That is the path to freedom, making the best choices and achieving recovery.

Planning? I don’t do it. ever.
it’s not intuitive. it’s planned and regimented.
I don;t know how I will feel tomorrow or even later today, so how can I plan it?
Goes against the whole intuitive principle.
