I have been traveling for a few months now and also have unfortunately lost my camera and broken my computer that I use for videos.
So while all that is being sorted out I am posting a special Q&A series to answer as many of your questions as possible.

The first thing that I want to say is that you are NOT alone. Like I said – traveling around the world these last few months has opened my eyes even more about how widespread, insidious and LIFE DESTROYING this disorder is. So please do NOT be ashamed or think that there is something wrong with you.

You are perfect as you are and there is nothing inherently wrong with you. You just happen to have an affliction which can steal your joy and inner peace BUT there IS A SOLUTION and YOU CAN RECOVER.

That is the important point. YOU CAN RECOVER COMPLETELY.

The more that we try to “hide” it and be ashamed, the less likely we are able to get help and treatment. So I congratulate all of you who are reading this, who are able to acknowledge and admit where you are at and who also seek complete recovery…


The first question today comes from Andrea…

Hi!  I’m still living at my parents’ house and they can’t understand that their comments on my weight or when/what/how much I eat are really freaking me out. They expect me to eat at times when I’m no longer hungry  and don’t see that I have a different “rhythm” than they have. Any suggestions? I can’t afford to move out, by the way, so I can’t avoid them. And I’ve tried to explain to them that it bothers me, but they don’t get it. I don’t know what else to do or what to say.

Thank you for your comment. This is something that I have experienced a lot in my recovery. It comes down to boundaries and putting your recovery first – no matter what.
Whether it is family telling you what and when to eat, or society, “health professionals” and others – we have to always remember that while people may have good intentions,
they do not always understand what we are going through or what an eating disorder is like.
Always do what is the absolute best for your recovery and trust your intuition and your decisions – even if others do not agree. In the long run, you are the one that has to live in
your body and trying to people please will only get you back into the destructive eating disorder cycle – which does not serve anyone!
Our families will be much better off when we are healthy and recovered, rather than pleasing them for a day and then struggling for years

Stay strong and always trust yourself!
Your own intuition is your GPS!
