Focus on the Wins

focus on the winsBecoming an intuitive eater and recovering from an eating disorder is not going to be smooth sailing.

Let’s get that straight.

Let’s not forget that, as much as I want to motivate you and give you hope.

I have never said that it would be easy. Just that it IS possible. Without a shadow of a doubt.

You CAN recover.

But here is the deal. You will feel depressed, bloated, frustrated, sad, terrified.

You will think this is all BS and “I am going back to that diet””.

You will doubt yourself, hate yourself, hate me and the world and universe and large.

But there is a fork at the end of this road.

You decide which way to go.

One way will lead you back to where you have been.

The other will lead you to freedom and recovery WITH all of the frustration and suffering I mentioned.

I went through it and you will too.

You do not get a free pass from the human condition of discomfort and pain that precedes all growth and transformation.

But you DO get to experience a life of freedom and recovery.

It takes courage, faith when you have none, getting up one more time when you absolutely cannot, showing up when you think there is no possible way that you can, picking up the phone when it feels like it weighs 100 kilos, not taking the laxative when it is screaming your name, repeating the success mantra when you don’t believe it, forgiving yourself when you want to dwell in self loathing, eating that thing that you damn well feel like no matter how loud your freakin head is saying you shouldn’t.

You just have to do it and separate yourself from the pack that stays stuck for decades and run with the few that live with freedom from this hell of a disease.

You DO have a choice. You are NOT weak, broken, defeated, too old, too sick, too young, to whatever BS you want to insert.


Don’t think – you will not out think this illness. Thoughts are NOT instructions and FEELINGS are not FACTS.

It is our ACTIONS that count. That’s it. They shape your character, reality, destiny AND will change how you feel.

But the action has to come first.

In order for us to move forward we have to remember that we CAN do this and that we have done MANY amazing
things in the past.

Anchor yourself in the success that you have had so far.

Remind yourself of all of the progress that you HAVE made.

And then take another step forward.

THEN: Take 5 minutes and write out your resume of accomplishment.

Seriously, just do it. Take your attention OFF what you are not doing right, how bad you feel, all the reasons why you will fail and just write out some words here…




+ What have you done, achieved, succeeded in?
+ Who have you helped?
+ What did you do differently this week?
+ What incredible things have your friends/family/clients/others said about you in the past?
+ How much have you moved towards recovery with your new actions?
+ What did you do this week that was self loving?
+ What did you do for another person that was loving?
+ Where have you traveled?
+ Who have you inspired?
+ Who cares about you deeply
+ Whose life have you impacted
+ What have you graduated?
+ What have you created or started?
+ What have you received rewards for?

Incredible accomplishments that are mind blowing when you look back at them.

Big or small get them down.

Type it up, print it out, paste it on your wall or burn it.

But remember that this is YOU.

There is more to YOU that the crap that the eating disorder feeds your brain.

Refocus those mental binoculars on your WINS

Whatever you focus on WILL grown and expand.

It is a scientifically proven fact. Google it.


Get REAL and remember what youย  ARE made of.
What are your wins and accomplishments?

Go back as far in your life as you need to for evidence of your personal awesomeness, success and WINS.
Keep on writing… Get everything out – all of your wins, all of the amazing things you have done, created, inspired and accomplished.
When youโ€™re done creating your glory board: Post it where you can
see it, keep it close to you, carry it around, paste it onto your mirror, hide it under your pillow.

Then take it out and read it before bed and then pay close attention to your ideal vision, goals, inner calling and dreams.

Now it’s time to rewrite your bio. Burn it, rip it up, let it go.ย  Set it free into the universe…

Because there is a WHOLE LOT MORE coming…

Just keep taking action and keep moving forward.

I’ve had an eating disorder for 5 years starting when I was 14 and still in the thick of it at 19. It has led me lately to now having a complete hopeless outlook where I don’t even want to keep living. My only chance for a future is if I recover. I am going through and looking at a lot of your posts to find inspiration. Thank you!

Thank you so much for everything Nina! ๐Ÿ™‚ You really keep me inspired and going forward! Since I found your website I’ve been feeling like I can actually recover and like I can actually do this. I don’t want to be someone I hate, I want to be free from all of these terrible thoughts, and thanks to your help I’m making progress. I just had a relapse yesterday, but I won’t give up. I have achieved so much that I just can’t give up now. Thank you so much for your help and support!!

Yes you CAn recover AND LOVE yourself, as well as living with complete freedom!
Never, ever give up – that has always been my motto when it comes to recovery
