One of the biggest challenges when becoming an intuitive eater is deciding what exactly you should buy when grocery shopping, whether you should read labels and exactly what the “right” thing is to buy… and whether there even is such thing as the “right” or most “beneficial” thing?

Can you relate to this dilemma? I know it certainly bugged me during my early days of intuitive eating – and even further along in recovery would pop up to be an unexpected trigger.

I know how triggering this topic may be and how difficult it is to navigate grocery stores, shopping for food and deciding what exactly you should or should not be eating as an “intuitive eater”.

Navigating the new way of recovery – without externally imposed diets, eating plans and similar is new territory that comes with new freedom as well as new challenges.

Do you struggle with grocery shopping, being stuck in black and white thinking around food, reading nutrition labels and perhaps facing a lot of confusion about what food to buy as you enter into a phase of recovery?

You are not alone! Please leave your comments around grocery shopping and recovery challenges below…

In this latest video I reveal the way I go about grocery shopping situations and how it relates to being a true intuitive eater.

I was asked this question – “Is eating disorder recovery worth it” – several months ago…

I have been putting off the answer – but honestly thinking about how to best present my personal answer with complete honesty.

Today I found out that my best friend has stage 4 lung cancer.

It made me think deeper about the question… and it made it seem more pressing to answer.

I thought about the most honest way to answer this, considering that in the past year or so I have had to deal with the impending death of my best frined, watching my grandmother die, another friend commiting suicide last year, being completely homeless in NYC, coping with my own miscarriage and the end of a long term relationship.

So Is Eating Disorder Recovery Worth It?

Please watch the latest video as I answer in the most candid and honest way possible…

I would also love to hear from you – what challenges are you faced with and how are you coping with them without resorting to food, restriction, the eating disorder and self harm?

We can ALL have complete recovery, freedom and the ability to walk through all that life throws at us with self love, acceptance and faith in life…

Looking forward to hearing from you,

According to wikipeadia – Binge eating disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder in the United States affecting 3.5% of females and 2% of males and is prevalent in up to 30% of those seeking weight loss treatment.

It is clearly a widespread problem that is difficult to deal with because there is a lot of shame and secrecy associated with it, and many are in denial about having the disorder.

So how do you deal with binge eating episodes when you are working on your recovery?

Check out the latest Q&A Videos on Binge Eating Disorder and Recovery Challenges- in 2 parts – brought to you from Thailand…

Also, if you know of anyone who is struggling with binge eating or compulsive overeating and could really use some help, please be sure to send them this blog post and video.

The more we talk about it and take the shame out of it, the more people can be helped to find true freedom and recovery.

Looking forward to hearing all of your comments and helping you to move into FULL recovery and freedom

Do you have family, friends, colleagues or other people in your life that trigger you and get in the way of your recovery?

Are you around people who talk a lot about diets, weight loss, the latest tips and tricks to lose weight?

All of these things can really get in the way of recovery and are a tricky topic – especially when these people are close to home…

So how do you deal with these triggers and stay on the path of recovery without hurting anyone?

Watch the latest video to find out more about how to Deal with People Who Trigger Your Eating Disorder Recovery…

Remember that when you are recovering – you need to take care of yourself first.

It is like being on the plane when they tell you to put on your mask before helping anyone else.

Because the truth is unless you get your mask on – your recovery – you really are of no use to anyone else.

As difficult as this all sounds, making some changes to take care of yourself and set boundaries are not only great tools for recovery – but life in general.

+++

Leave me a comment and let me know if there are people that trigger you, and how you have dealt with such situations.
