Eating Disorder Questions and My Recovery Story

by nina on August 12, 2011

eating disorder recovery storyI am so impressed with all the amazing eating disorder questions that you have all been posting! This is fantastic and what I have really learned throughout my life and trying to recover from eating disorders for so long is that you MUST be asking the right questions in order to get to the solution that you want and need.

Eating disorders work to keep you isolated, shut off from the world and to keep it all a “secret”. But the key to recovery from eating disorders is shedding light on the problem, allowing full expression of where you are at – that is how miracles and transformation occur.

So please keep the questions coming and I will be creating new videos and getting to as many questions as I possible can.

In the meantime, I want to share my Eating Disorder Recovery Story video with you:

You can also read my story of recovery here: How I Recovered from All Eating Disorders

So please keep on posting the questions and most importantly keep believing that COMPLETE RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE.

In the words of My idol, Winston Churchill…

Never, never, never give up

Hi Nina,
I just wanted to tell you that I can’t wait for the videos to be put up! You have really changed my life..I had anorexia 10 years ago and have been “managing” my eating disorder ever since (barely at times). The day I read your story was the first time I truly felt like I too can be a normal eater. I have not dieted for just over 2 months now and have been going through absolute hell…but I know now that there is no turning back! Everyday that I don’t feel the urge to binge is a blessing. I really can’t thank you enough for helping me Nina 🙂
Have a lovely day
From Dom xx

Hi Dom,

I am so happy to hear that my story has had an impact on you and that you believe you can be a normal eater, because the truth is that YOU CAN!
Congratulations on not dieting for 2 months! That is fantastic, and yes – no turning back now. I promise it will get easier, to the point that you do not even think about food or dieting.
It has been 6 years for me now, and I still too feel immense gratitude that the hell of the obsession and the acting out is over.
You are doing great! Just keep going, don’t let the disease take over. Keep positive thoughts of recovery in your mind at all times and keep seeing yourself as fully recovered.

If you have any specific questions, please drop me a line here! I am here to help you in any way that I can.

Love and Recovery,

Hi Nina,

You talked about reprogramming your brain to change your beliefs, and I’ve found that to be really inspiring. But I also have a lot of intense pain from my childhood, which I’ve covered up with years of emotional eating/restricting. How did you balance working through those underlying issues vs. working intuitive eating? Do you recommend doing one before the other?

Hi Rish,

Thank you so much for your comments and questions. Hopefully this Video can answer some of those questions for you… I will be posting a lot more videos on this topic of changing beliefs and reprogramming your thinking and subconscious mind as they are essential to full recovery.
If you have any further questions, please post them!

Love and recovery,
